The hero can be a boring role to play. And actually it is very hard for a hero type to gain the sympathy of a modern audience, especially if he is surrounded by other more human and entertaining character types. But the problem can become the solution. If the hero takes great pleasure in all the weird characters that surround him, sharing the audience’s point of view, he will soon gain their sympathy.
