Energy

The ability of a system to do work. Usually measured in Calories, Joules, Watt-hours or British Thermal Units.

In the theatre, "energy" is a commonly used expression with a vast range of meanings, very imprecise, and for the speaker, almost entirely personal. In one’s work as a teacher one often has to use language in an evocative way. But really…!

I prefer to talk of passion and tempo.
